Chapter 35 – Living Together Or Not

What?

Hearing those words from Chu Tian, the female student’s expression froze in an instant.

It was only now that she realized what was going on.

It was her. She was the one overthinking things.

She thought that she encountered the plot of those pure-hearted campus love stories. She thought that she had, by offering her bottle of water, encountered a pure-hearted campus romance.

Never did she imagine that… the ‘have dinner together’ mentioned by Chu Tian earlier was not spoken to her. He was not trying to take her out on a date.

He had simply mistaken her to be a friend of his deskmate.

In an instant, the atmosphere became extremely awkward. But, that female student soon managed to regain composure. She immediately smiled, “Oh, there’s no need for that. It’s only a bottle of water. I merely offered it because I saw that you’re quite good with basketball. Well, I’ll be going on. You all enjoy yourselves, bye.”

“Hey, schoolmate…”

Seeing how that girl began to hurriedly leave after saying those words, Chu Tian couldn’t help but look to Yang Rong, “Damn. If she’s not with the two of you, why didn’t you tell me about it earlier. I even drank her bottled water.”

“Pfff. Hahaha…”

Unable to contain themselves anymore, Yang Rong and Bai Xiaochun burst into loud laughter.

Yang Rong laughed, “Deskmate, you’re simply too much of a dunce. Was there really a need for you to be that direct? Look how much of an embarrassment you made it to be.”

“If you knew that would happen, why didn’t you warn me earlier?”

“I’m talking about that girl,” said Yang Rong, “She thought that you’re planning to take her on a date.”

“Ah? Date?”

“Mmhmm, yep,” Bai Xiaochun also laughed, “While you were on the court, she has been standing beside us and fixing her hair, her clothes and her makeup the entire time. She looked like she was totally looking forward to the evening date with you. Who would’ve expected… even I am feeling sorry for her.”

“Eh…” Chu Tian looked to the back view of that girl and smiled, “Sigh, it’s only a misunderstanding. I thought the three of you were together. I ended up drinking her bottled water. Well, let go and eat together tonight.”

“Sure,” Yang Rong said, “Oh, deskmate, maybe we should just go to your place. It’s been this long and I’ve never been to your place yet. There’s not really any place nearby with delicious food. It’s better that we purchase some stuff at the supermarket and cook our own food.”

“That’s no problem with me,” said Chu Tian, “My place happened to have a kitchen. We can cook and eat at my place.”

“Lil Chun, are you coming?” Yang Rong looked to Bai Xiaochun.

“Yeah, I’m fine with it too,” Bai Xiaochun smiled, “My cooking skills are quite good. I can have you two taste my skills.”

……

6:30PM!

The three left the campus and went to the supermarket. They purchased some pork chops, a fish and some greens. Then, Chu Tian began to guide them toward his rental apartment.

Chu Tian placed the stuff they purchased onto the coffee table in the living room, “This building is quite old. It’s not the best. Just put up with this place.”

“You’re exaggerating,” Bai Xiaochun began checking out Chu Tian’s place, “This place is much better than the school dorms. Our dorm is packed with people and many people share a single room. Thus, everywhere is packed with students’ stuff. There’s no personal space to be said. At the very least, you have two bedrooms here and a sufficient amount of space on top of that. This place is very comfortable compared to our dorm.”

“That’s right,” Yang Rong added, “While the building might be old, it’s much more comfortable than our dorm. Sigh, you’re making me want to live off campus too.”

“Well, I guess that’s the case then,” Smiling, Chu Tian took out the fruits Li Sisi brought over at noon from the fridge, “Eat some fruit first. I’ll have to take a shower and change some clothes. I’ve sweated too much today. You two can do whatever you want, don’t be too courteous with my place.”

“Heh. You don’t have to worry about that, your deskmate here will not be too courteous with you. Go ahead and take your shower.”

“Okay, I’ll go shower then.”

After seeing Chu Tian entering the washroom with a change of clothes, Bai Xiaochun suddenly walked over to Yang Rong, “Hey, Rongrong, did you smell that? It smells like perfume.”

Perfume?

Yang Rong pushed her nose forward and smelled. She frowned, “Really? My deskmate doesn’t use perfume.”

“Really. It’s not the kind of perfume that men use,” Bai Xiaochun said with certainty, “It’s a woman’s perfume. It smells pretty good too.”

_{[1. Perfume/cologne is literally fragrant water in chinese. So yeah, not much of a distinction in gender. And, tbh, perfume is just a stronger version of cologne.]}

Woman’s perfume?

Yang Rong suddenly smirked, “You’re kidding. You’re saying my deskmate is hiding a woman off campus?”

As she said those words, Yang Rong walked into Chu Tian’s bedroom.

“Hey! Rongrong…”

Bai Xiaochun took a glance at the closed washroom door. Then, she rushed after Yang Rong.

Yang Rong was at the side of the bed and sniffing it. Seeing Bai Xiaochun entering the bedroom, she revealed an expression like she had discovered the New World. Immediately, she hooked at Bai Xiaochun to signal for her to come over, “Hey, Lil Chun, come smell this. It really does smell like perfume. Furthermore, it’s not only perfume I’m smelling, there’s also the smell of makeup. It’s most definitely a woman.”

Bai Xiaochun immediately walked over. Sure enough, the fragrance grew stronger.

Suddenly, Yang Rong seemed to discover something. She slowly picked up two strands of permed hair over a foot long each from the pillow.

The two girls looked at each other. Yang Rong smiled, “Dang! My deskmate is truly a master of disguise. Even I was deceived by him. I really thought he didn’t have a girlfriend. Who would’ve expected that they’re already living together.”

Living together?

Bai Xiaochun took a glance at the room, “That doesn’t seem like it. If they’re living together, why aren’t there any female items here?”

Eh!

That’s true!

It was only after hearing that did Yang Rong discover there were no female clothes or items in the room.

This made no sense!

If Chu Tian was really living together with a girl, he wouldn’t have nothing belonging to a woman in his house.
